Parent Workshops

Everyone at Roe Green Infant School knows that one of the main priorities for parents is their child’s educational well-being. Your continued role in helping your child with their knowledge and understanding of all aspects of reading, writing and mathematics is very important and we value the support that you give. Having just moved into a new year group, however, the learning in these areas can be complex and children learn in different ways.

Over the next few weeks, we will be holding workshops for parents with children in Year 1 and Year 2. There will be workshops on Phonics (including guided reading), Reading Comprehension, Mathematics and Writing (including spelling, punctuation, grammar and handwriting). At each workshop, we will explain the different approaches used in the teaching of these subjects, appropriate to the relevant year group. The meetings are an ideal opportunity for you to ask questions and talk to staff. Some of the resources that we use will also be available for you to look at and try.

It is hoped that you will be able to attend at least one of these meetings and find out how you can help your child at home. The table below shows the different workshops that we will be holding for each of the year groups, with the relevant time and date. All of the workshops will take place in the Community Room in the Evergreen building.

EYFS Workshops - Diwali

We had lots of fun at the workshop! We made clay divas, straw and rice fireworks, mehndi patterns and we coloured in Rangoli designs too. We even did a Diwali counting activity.
